Overview
We have completed our review of the prices South Gippsland Water will charge from 1 July 2020.
We conducted our review under our new PREMO pricing framework, which:
- promotes better value and outcomes for Victorian water customers
- requires water businesses to undertake meaningful customer engagement to inform their price submissions.
Our determination sets out the maximum prices South Gippsland Water may charge from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2023.

Key facts from our final decision
Support for customers facing payment difficulties has expanded
South Gippsland Water has expanded its customer support program to assist customers affected by coronavirus. This includes offering longer extensions and payment plan options to both residential and non-residential customers.
Prices will rise to fund investment in water security and key services
South Gippsland Water's prices will increase by 5 per cent in 2020-21, after an initial freeze on prices until 31 October 2020 in response to coronavirus. Prices will then increase by 2 per cent (before inflation) in each of the following two years. The price increase is driven by new sewer services provided within the region and increased costs following connection to the Melbourne water supply system which has improved security of supply for South Gippsland Water’s customers.
Investment in areas of highest priority
South Gippsland Water has reflected customer priorities in its commitments to:
- renew aging infrastructure to maintain service levels
- progress programs that ensure water security for the region
- continue its carbon emission reduction program
- work to minimise unplanned water interruptions
- strengthen support for vulnerable and disadvantaged customers through its customer support program.
